Abstract (EN)

Long stories, especially written in Chekhov?s experienced years, are very important for Chekhov?s literary improvement. Searching the features of long stories of Chekhov by collecting them under a title, is the main purpose of this study. Reformer and a realist writer Anton Pavlovhich Chekhov with his long stories constitutes of base of reformist action by introducing Russian literature to different interpretation. In this study, have been studied on features of Anton Chekhov?s long stories in detail.Chekhov, in the brief 44 years of his life, combined active medical work with the creation of many of the literary masterpieces. Chekhov, famous for unusual writing method, generally writes an event or a a state, and completes them with human psychology successfully. Writer, who approaches with a static method to events, uses inner voices and psychological manners in his expressions; in this way he reinforces realist side of his writings. Chekhov was awarded the Pushkin Prize in 1888. 1890, Chekhov undertook an arduous journey by train to Sakhalin Island. His extraordinary expedition to the penal island of Sakhalin showed both his humanitarian sensibility and his remarkable foresight as a medical investigator.Objectiveness is noticed as a distinquishing element of writer?s writing style. He has no political sight, and dwells on personal and scientific improvement of human being. Heros, struggling to reach to the truth, have been either unsuccessful, or successful like in his story ?The Betrothed?. It?s spesific for his stories to find subjects of awakening and personal changing. Writer, believes in unchangable speriority of science, exposes the importance of personal changing and awakenin. Except for this, it?s possible to find relationships of man-woman, personal insufficiency, psychological defects and religional elements in his stories. Especially people in sheath are caracteristic subject of his long stories. ?Woman With Little Dog?, ?The Tedious Story?, ?Dushecka?, ?An Unkown Man?s Story? ?Teacher of Literature?, ?Lights?, ?Man In The Sheath?, ?Ionıch?, ?Duel?, ?Three Years?, ?My Wife?, ?Ward No. Six? are some long stories of Anton Chekhov?s experienced years. ?Steppe? is different from his other stories by its subject and method. It?s noticed as a diary of a step trip with nature descriptions.Literary style of Anton Chekhov short, simple and understandable. Therefore his stories were translated to many languages.
