Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine the effect of coach self-efficacy on the relationship between coach and athlete and to reveal how there is a connection between communication levels and various variables. In the research, the data obtained with quantitative research method were handled statistically. A total of 243 full-time or part-time coaches with a coaching certificate in Bursa province participated in the study with an average age of 38.52±9.72 years. The average of coaching experience was 10,63±8,10. As data collection tools for the participant coaches; personal information form, "Coach Self-Efficacy Scale", which has been validity and reliability study by Koçak (2020), was used to measure the professional self-efficacy and self-efficacy beliefs of the coaches with psychometric properties with a total of 21 questions, and "Coach-Sportsperson Relationship Scale", which has been validity and reliability study by Altıntaş, Kazak Çetinkalp and Aşçı (2012), was used and "Coach Form" was used to evaluate the relationship between the coach and the athlete. After determining the homogeneous distribution of the data obtained, mean, frequency, descriptive statistics, Spearman correlation analysis, Mann-Whitney U Test and Kruskal Wallis test were applied in the analysis of the data. There was no significant difference between the total score of the coach self-efficacy scale and the sub-dimensions of the coach-athlete relationship scale according to the gender variable (p>0.05). There was no significant difference between the total score of the coach self-efficacy scale and the sub-dimensions of the coach-athlete relationship scale according to the variable of years of working with the athlete (p>0.05). There was a significant difference (p<0.05) between the sub-dimensions of the coach-athlete relationship scale according to team sport and individual sport variables. No significant difference was found in coach self-efficacy scale and coach-athlete relationship scale closeness and complementarity sub-dimensions (p>0.05). There was a significant difference between the total score of the coach self-efficacy scale according to the National Team coaching variable (p>0.05). However, no significant difference was found between the sub-dimensions of the coach-athlete relationship scale according to the variable of national team coaching (p>0.05). In the total score of the coach self-efficacy scale, it was found that the averages of the coaches with the 5th level coaching certificate among the participant coaches were significantly different (p<0.05). compared to the other levels, and in the management competence sub-dimension, the averages of the coaches with the 5th level coaching certificate were significantly different from the coaches with the 2nd and 3rd level coaching certificates (p<0.05). It was seen that there was a significant positive relationship between total self-efficacy and performance, psychological, personality building and management efficacy (r=0,61-0,80, p<0,01). at a high level and between teaching efficacy (r>0,81, p<0,01). at a very high level and between the closeness variable and coach-athlete relationship scale; complementarity sub-dimension (r=0,61-0,80, p<0,01). at a high level. In the study, by comparing various personal information and coach self-efficacy and athlete-coach relationship scales with various methods, it was concluded that coaches' self-efficacy levels were higher when the coaches were coaching at the national team level and had a coaching certificate at the 5th level. As it is understood from these results, it was seen that the self-efficacy levels of the coaches increased as a result of developing themselves in various fields, primarily professionally, and performing their profession at the highest level in their branch such as the National Team. It has been observed that coaches operating in individual sports branches have higher levels of commitment in their communication with their athletes.
