An investigation over adherence levels to ethical principles in decisions of the sport administrators from the viewpoint of coach and athlete (Beko Basketball League sampling)

The study was designed to investigate the attitudes toward unethical conducts and adherence level to ethical principles of the sport club administrators from one of the sport organizations, Beko Basketball League.A qualitative research method and phenomenology design was applied as a model in the study. Totally 32 subjects, including 16 teams? coaches and their team captains from Beko Basketball League, were interviewed in a semi-structured way, all of whom were directed standardized open-ended questions for the data required.The interview results were registered in written form, themes were reached for through the significant data. The relationships between those themes were determined and organized in light of research questions. In agreement with the themes made clear, codes were set up, and the results, an outcome of the study, were eventually specified, rearranging the data. This process was conducted by a 4-member team involving specialized academicians and the researcher.As a result of the study, in line with the questions all referring to ethical principles and unethical behavior and the themes out of the participants responses, it was found how well the administrators consider the predetermined ethical principles in their decisions. By the same token, within the decison-making process the principles which the basketball administrators either adhere to or ignore were clearly stated down in the study.Key Words: Administration, Sport Administration, Ethics
