The effects of curved form in main living room of apartment housing on user satisfaction

The objective of this study was to determine relative with the location ofcurvilinearity ways of use of curvilinear volumes in main living room ofapartment housing and the effects of this curvilinear volume on the perceptivequality of spaces. To this end, apartment housing with curvilinear volumes inthe Cukurambar and Cigdem district of Ankara that are believed to appeal toUpper Socio-Economic Status (SES) were included in the study. A detailedquestionnaire was administered to the users of these apartment houses in orderto determine ways of use of curvilinear volumes, the users? level of satisfactionand desire and the perceptive quality of spaces. According to the data obtained,it was found that in the interior spaces with curvilinear volumes, the location ofcurvilinearity affected the use of the space, its perceptive quality and usersatisfaction. It was observed that in cases where curvilinear formation occurredin the main corner of the main living room, the furniture could not bepositioned in accordance with the space and therefore some users either placedflowers-vases in the curvilinear volume or left it empty.
