Impact of R&D and innovation on high technology products export: The case of emerging market economies

High technology product exports have an important place in the understanding of competition that has changed in the world economies with the effect of globalization in recent years. The trend towards R&D activities of countries is increasing in order to gain a place in changing competition conditions. Economic growth is also affected by transforming the innovations that arise through R&D activities into commercial success. R&D and innovation activities support the increasing of technological developments and export performances. The effects of R&D and innovation activities on high technology product exports and economic growth are a matter of curiosity. In this study, it has been reveal the effect on high technology product exports with the data 2007-2017 of 7 emerging market economies whose data is available (Argentina, Bulgaria, China, Poland, Romania, Russia and Turkey). In analyzing this relationship, from panel data analysis methods, fixed and random effects models were used. As a result of the study, it has been determined that there is a positive and significant relationship between R&D and innovation and high technology product exports.
