Intra-vehicular wireless sensor networks (IVWSN) is a cutting edge research topic that brings cost reduction, assembly and maintenance efficiency by the removal of the wiring harnesses within the vehicle and enables integration of new sensors into the vehicle locations where cable connection is not possible. Providing energy efficiency through the low duty cycle operation and high reliability by exploiting the large bandwidth, Ultra-wideband (UWB) has been determined to be the most appropriate technology for IVWSN. This thesis consists of two UWB channel models for IVWSN within the engine compartment and beneath the chassis. The engine compartment channel model aims to model the average behavior of the channel based on the measurements of 19$\times$19 links for different types and conditions of the vehicle. The model is based on the derivation of the path loss exponent, the power variation around the path loss exponent, the parameters of the modified Saleh-Valenzuela (SV) model, the variations of the observed power delay profiles (PDP) around the SV model. The proposed model has been validated by comparing the received energy and root mean square delay spread of the generated and observed PDPs. The beneath the chassis channel model aims to model the time variation of the channel based on the data collected under different scenarios including different road types and vehicle speed. The model is based on applying time-series analysis, specifically ARIMA model, on the parameters of the modified SV model. The proposed model has been validated by analyzing the distribution of the residuals between generated and experimental data.
