Abstract (EN)

People believe that migration can bring them to a better environment than they are already in. There have been countless times in which people have had the reason to emigrate since the existence of mankind. Migration is sometimes compulsory and sometimes out of preference. Historically, leaving natural disasters, confusion within the country, economic crises, and demand for better conditions, religion, language, race and wars are some of the main causes for migration. One may find their own reason to migrate, as it may differ for individuals. However, the goal is either to improve economic conditions or simply to survive with better opportunities. A society shaped by the perceptions and prejudices of people greatly influences the lives of foreigners. In this study, the career status of immigrants who settled in Turkey in 2010 as a result of the civil war in the Middle East will be examined. How their lives have been changed since immigrating will also be analysed. The economic opportunities for immigrants in Turkey, as well as the validity of immigrating to economically challenged countries such as Turkey will also be discussed.
