Linguistic structure of immigration movies in Arabic cinema: In the context of al-Maydân, Zûzû, Min-ajl-samâ, al-Zaman al-Bâqî, Fajr al-'Âlam

In the modern period, there have been many immigration crisis in the Arab world for political, economic, social and other reasons. Examples include the Gulf war, the Arab Spring and its aftermath, the Lebanese civil war, the Palestinian relocation, and the Syrian civil war. These events have been the subject of many essential films, as well as the theme of many literary and artistic products. Thus in Arabic cinema, the phenomenon of immigration is a recurring theme due to the abundance of acts that cause migration of people. The human migration phenomenon, lasts in the 21st century either towards inside or outside the country. However, it takes place in two different ways. The first is physical migration and the second is a mental migration created by the movie indusrty and mass media. When a person sits in the cinema and starts watching a movie, he/she practices a mental migration by transitioning from his/her own cultural world to a different cultural world. The issue of language in cinema gains even more importance when it is considered from a wider perspective in terms of the use of language in mass media. Because although movies are mostly produced as visual works for viewing, they actually exist with language. All the scenes of a movie are produced under the dominance of two different languages that complement each other. Namely, first of all, the producer must have a script for the production of the film. The script is a completely language-generated text. According to the content of this text, the production and shooting processes are started. The director and the film production crew communicate with language during filming. After shooting is over, the film is reviewed over and over again, with summaries, discussions, and criticism. All these are linguistic activities. But all these linguistic activities take place in the context of a particular language of discourse in terms of worldview. Therefore, each film can be regarded as an artistic text resulting from a masterful blending of these two languages. In this study, 5 films on immigration will be discussed in their historical context and analyzed from a socio-linguistic point of view.
