The effect of Arabic verbs on translations of the Qur'an

One of the prerequisites for living and therefore understanding the Quran is to have the ability to understand it correctly. In order to develop this ability, grammar, that is, grammar, syntax, rhetoric, etc. Knowledge of tool science is required. These sciences play an important role in the processes of understanding, interpreting and translating the Quran. In this study, the subject was examined specifically in the science of sarcasm. Sarf science is a discipline that studies the structure, situation and rules of the word. In addition, how verbs are derived, the characteristics of verb chapters and the rules of use are also within the scope of the science of 'sharf'. Verbs play a vital role in a sentence and hence are of critical importance in revealing the meaning of the Qur'anic verses. When it comes to Qur'anic verses, the differences in meaning of verb chapters become even more important. In Arabic, verb chapters can contain different semantic features. For example, the verb "أَضَلَّ" (edalle) can be used in the sense of "leads astray" or in the sense of "finds/finds astray". With its first use, the meaning of ta'diye (transitability) is emphasized, while with its second use, the meaning of conscience (finding in a state) is reached. According to this example, the expression "يُضِلُّ بِهِ كَثِيراً" in verse 26 of Surah Al-Baqarah can be translated in two ways: Firstly, with its ta'diye (transitive) meaning as "(Allah) leads many astray with that (example)" and secondly, In the sense of conscience (finding in a state), "(Allah) finds many people astray with that (example)." These different meaning features greatly affect the way the Quran is translated, as can be seen from the example. Therefore, these different semantic features carried by Arabic verb chapters require special attention when translating the Quran. So far, we have not been able to find a specific study on the effect of semantic differences of verb chapters on the translation of the Quran. In order to fill this gap, in this study, the different meanings of verb chapters will be given and the effect of these differences on Quran translations will be examined through sample verses. As a result, we will try to reveal how important knowledge of Arabic is in the process of translating the Quran.
