Drama in teaching Arabic and its level of use by teachers of arabic

This study includes the inquiry into the levels of drama use as a language teaching technique by teacher of Arabic at Anatolian Imam Hatip High Schools. The questionnaire was administered to teachers of Arabic who work at Anatoian Imam Hatip High Schools in the cities and provinces of Central Anatolia and their levels of drama use was looked into on the basis of the data gathered.The study has a descriptive design and a questionnaire was the data collection instrument. The questionnaire was administered to 116 teachers in the aforementioned schools. 112 of these questionnaires were regarded as valid since the others had missing answers and did not provide the data required.As a result of the study, the statistical analysis of teachers? levels of using drama activities in their courses was provided. According to the results, it is possible to conclude that some teachers find some classical techniques more useful than drama techniques and that they use them more often.It was also found that teachers? level of drama use and their opinions on whether these techniques are useful in teaching Arabic or not vary depending on their experience in the profession and gender (p<.05), whereas the department they graduated from does not affect their use of drama and views on it (p>.05)In the light of the findings, it was suggested that drama be introduced and be more common in teaching Arabic. Additionally, new studies on drama in teaching Arabic should be conducted due to its being a wide-open space waiting to be explored in the field.Keywords: Foreign language teaching, teaching Arabic, drama, Anatolian Imam Hatip High Schools
