The communicative approach in Arabic writing skills

Recently Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language has gained a great importance in Turkey. In the light of these developments many new methods have been improved for teaching Arabic to Turks. In this research the applications of the communicative approach that has created a big impact in foreign language teaching in the last twenty years, has been applied to one of the four main skills of a language that is the writing skill in the Arabic language. In the introduction chapter of this research the aims of the study, its importance, hypothesis, definitions and concepts as well as other studies concerning the methods of this study and the communicative approach has been discussed. Teaching a Foreign Language in Turkey and Teaching Arabic as well as Arabic writing skills have been examined in the first chapter. The second chapter of this study looks into communicative approach and its qualities and also looks into the techniques in teaching a foreign language with the communicative approach and the activities that have been developed to apply in Teaching Arabic according to this approach. The last part of the research presents results and suggestions of this study.
