Ardahan legends

There have been a lot of definitions and descriptions about "legend" which is a type of narration in Folk literature with this study we have tried to inform (people) about the definition and the formation of legend with the help of avaiable information. The reason that leads us to study about kegends is the lack of compilation and sorting Studies about legendaraound Ardahan . Commited Studies have done as journal publications and book chapters. As long as legends known as culture transporter are not written down and in case of the death of the ones who know legends, it is obvious that legends will fall through the cracks. We have set our study taking all these conditions into accountand started with the ides of gathering lots of legends by means of different etnic groups around the counties in Ardahan. İn our study, literatüre rewiev, field study and research haven't done . in town and villages that we visited, we met with consultants and compiled. İn order to sort out the legends we compile we eleborate on previous sorting Studies. The most importand problem in our study was limiting field compilation time because of the everlasting and hard winter conditions. We have come up to a lot of folk literatüre productions while gathering information about legend. We have collected different narrations that are told as legends. We have chosen the ones that have the characteristics of belief and holiness and are known told among many people. We have encountered different versions of a legend from one vıllage to anather.there have been very common comparents.within these legends.especially,there are lats of norratıons a bout "al karısı"each narratıons has common and canstantpatterns. Legends are related to the history,belief system,value judgements and geographics of the society.ıt is passible to see the literory influence and haliness judgements of a society by looking its legends.there fore,we cansider that thelegends should be compiled and written down as much as passible.
