Abstract (EN)
Knowledge is in such a constant change and development in today's world. This situation was concluded with the materialization of four industrial revolutions in the last two hundred years. Each of the industrial revolution has directed to the individual qualification that the countries need and educative programs. Together with the global transformations, there have been significant changes since the last periods of the last century. Especially the developments in technology have changed the social structure of the society. This change has propounded that individuals should have some skills named as 21st century skills. One of the technologies used to have these skills is the use of Arduino within the scope of robotics and coding technics. Although Arduino has many relations with those such as smart home projects, automatic irrigation systems, robots in communication with its environment, the use of it is almost very little. It is inevitable that technology, which has an important part of every stage of life, is also used in education. There is a great need of using such modern approaches and their effects in education of science. It's aimed to investigate the effects of programming with Arduino on 6th grade students' achievements, attitudes and self-sufficiency intented for science with this job of work. This research was carried out in one of the publics schools in Eregli district of Zonguldak province, in the spring term of 2016-2017 academic year. Pretest-post test design was used as the quantitative research method in this quasi-experimental study. The universe of the study was consisted 6th grade students with a total number of 64, of whom 32 constitude experimental group.used as. The activities in the electricity transmission unit were done using Arduino in the experimental group, where as the activities in the textbook were done in the control group. Achievement test, Self-sufficiency Scale for Science developed by Tatar et al. (2009) and Attitude Scale towards science lesson developed by Nuhoğlu (2008) were used as data collection method. The analysis of independent samples t-sest and dependent sample t-test were done with raw scores that were obtained from tests and scales. According to the results of the study, no significant difference was found in the success and self-efficacy of the experimental group students with Arduino and control group students using the activities of the constructivist approach. It was concluded that there is a significant difference in favor of the experimental group in terms of their attitudes towards Science course.
