Özet (EN)

Although the main subject of this study is the relationship between art and education in Aristotle, priority has been given to the problems of art, as it forms the basis for this discussion. In this context, answers were sought to the following issues within the framework of Aristotle's views on art: The relationship between art and reality, the function of art, the features that distinguish art from science and philosophy, the issue of separating art into genres such as music, literature and painting, and what the criteria of value are in art. In our study, we also tried to justify that Aristotle, who bases art as imitation, does not see this imitation as an ordinary imitation, but has a direction that includes a lot of human factors because, according to him, the artist first adds himself to his work. At this point, it was emphasized that he brought up the relationship between art and education and talked a lot about tragedies. Parallel to this, attention has been drawn to the claim that Aristotle's concept of catharsis, which he identifies with tragedies, points to the importance of providing purification for the person. It is seen that he attaches great importance to music, especially in the context of education, gives the necessary value to the art of painting, although he does not mention it much, and associates these arts with the humane. While he trying to put education on a solid ground, Aristotle, who is aware of the fact that education is the way to keep the state alive and to ensure peace and happiness, reminds him of its connection with art. In this context, he speaks of an enjoyable education phenomenon, which is transformed into a demand without any obligation, in line with the interests and needs of children. He argues that for this, art, especially music, and art education, which has an effect on the shaping of personality, can be used. Since Aristotle believes that the best citizen will be revealed with the best education system, he says that education should be made into an art of teaching, which is done by the state, can give the deserved person what he deserves, gain reasoning skills and approach meticulously like an art. In this way, he saw politics as the greatest art, as it served the purpose of combining the aims of education and art and transforming life into art. Keywords: Aristoteles, art, education, relationship between art and education
