Southeastern Aegean-Cyprus relations in the Archaic Period within the framework of archaeological finds

Starting from the second half of the 8th century BC, figurines of Cypriot origin began to be seen in the sanctuaries in the Southeast Aegean, and since the middle of the 7th century BC, Cypriot amphorae and mortars were found in the shipwrecks with amphorae belonging to other parts of the Aegean (Miletos, Corinth). It is proof that Cyprus and the Southeast Aegean communities are in cooperation in the relations between distant regions in the Eastern Mediterranean. In order to understand the network of relations between the Southeast Aegean and Cyprus, firstly the material groups of Cypriot origin (terracotta, limestone figurines, ceramics, amphorae, mortar) and the distribution of these material groups in the Southeast Aegean were examined. Numerical data were obtained about the periods in which the Cypriot-origin materials were found and how many samples were represented.Keywords: Archaic Period, Southeastern Aegean, Cyprus, Sanctuary, Shipwrecks The periods in which these different material groups overlapped and diverged chronologically were tried to be revealed in a unity. In the chronological continuity evaluated in this study, the reasons behind the change, increase and decrease of the material groups of Cypriot origin during the period were investigated within the framework of the political organization of the two regions. Within the scope of the study; the political, cultural, socio-economic and commercial relations that took place in the process covering the entire Archaic Period were discussed.
