Prominent women of Pamphylia in the Roman İmperial period according to the archeological findings and epigraphic documents

The suppressed position of women in ancient societies has drastically changed Since Roman Imperial period. Asia Minor has had the most important examples of those changes. In our study, we examined the social and cultural boundaries of the era in which the leading women lived in Pamphylia region of Asia Minor. By doing so, we have documented through inscriptions how they attempted to exist in the public sphere in the male-dominated ancient world. We identified these women through inscriptions from Aspendos, Attaleia, Perge, Side and Sillyon which are politically important cenetrs in the ancient world. In our study, which aims to investigate the prominent women from first centruy to third century, how the socio-cultural and economic understanding of the Roman Empire had an impact on the lives of women in Asia Minor. In addition, we have tried to explain the social and legal context that generated the prominent women through the reality of Asia Minor.
