Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the archive internship of information and records management departments were examined within the framework of the mentoring methodology. In this context, the attitudes and behaviors of the internship institution towards the students during the internship were examined and with them, the question of whether the internships were carried out within the scope of mentoring. At the same time, took into account the opinions of the students about the internship process. The main hypothesis of the study is "in archive internships carried out in information and records management departments in Turkey, internship programs given to students are not carried out within the scope of mentoring methodology". In this thesis the literature review method was used, and the survey method was used as a data collection tool. The sample group in the field study consisted of 361 people who did their archival internships between 2015-2019. This research examins whether there is a difference between the cultivation, seperation and redefinition stages of mentoring and internship satisfaction according to the internship institution. It is observed that there is a significant difference according to the type of internship institution in the cultivation, seperation and redefinition stages. In addition to this, it is determined that there is no difference in internship satisfaction according to the internship institution. Although there were some findings that mentoring was applied in internships, it was is seen that the students had problems at some stages. In this context, it is understood that the programs carried out in archive internships are provided in some aspects within the scope of mentoring methodology, but not in all aspects. As a result, this research concludes that performing archive internships within the framework of mentoring methodology is a valid and applicable method for solving problems that arrise during the internship, and for increasing its overall efficiency.
