Abstract (EN)
Cancer occurs when the balance of genes that control the normal life cycle of a cell is disrupted, leading to uncontrolled and immortalized cell growth. Cancer is defined as the disruption of the body's homeostasis, even causing damage to homeostasis. Breast cancer is characterized by uncontrolled growth of malignant cells in the epithelial tissue of the breast. In this study, the MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell line was used along with the Fibroblast L929 healthy cell line as a control. The protective effects of Artemisinin on MDA-MB-231 and L929 cell lines were determined using the MTT assay (Cell Viability Determination), Comet assay, and antioxidant enzyme activity measurement methods. It was found that Artemisinin, a plant extract, had an appropriate effect on the cell lines used in the study at suitable doses. Investigating the molecular mechanisms in future studies will be of great importance in the widespread use of Artemisinin pharmacologically.
