Abstract (EN)
Throughout history, humankind has lived with the instinct of curiosity and has always focused on the concept of knowledge. Knowledge societies have used information as a power factor against other societies. The information enables the functioning of the universe and the control of events that have occurred or may occur. In the digital age, while information can reach the entire society, it also causes data acquisition that can exceed the individual's capacity. For this reason, the information design process is an important step in order to grasp information correctly. Infographics, one of the types of information design, are seen as a solution to situations where traditional narratives in different disciplines are insufficient, and they ensure the correct transmission of the message and the compilation of data. In the digitalization process, speed is an important factor that should be considered in the information transfer of infographics. As a matter of fact, information that is overlooked and incomprehensible in the flow cannot fulfill its function today. This situation should be resolved in the information design process of infographics. For this reason, the thesis aims to provide augmented reality supported interactive infographics, which is an infographic application with new-generation hybrid features, as a solution to the problems brought by the digital age. The hypothesis of the study is the necessity of designing augmented reality supported interactive infographics by preserving the basic features of traditional infographics in the critical learning process of the digital age. This thesis has been limited to the concept of simulation, the first uses, usage areas, and classifications of infographics and augmented reality. In the method of the thesis, compilation, which is a qualitative research method, will be used within the framework of graphic design elements chosen from the İstanbul Rahmi M. Koç Museum infographic samples. This study is of great importance in terms of adding the transition process from traditional infographics to interactive infographics to the literature, and it aims to make the transfer of information interesting, intriguing, and easy to understand for the areas that actively use infographics.
