Development a tourist guide application using augmented reality technology

In recent years, a major transformation has been taking place in the tourism sector, as in every other sector, with the effect of digitalization. Augmented reality systems, which are the subject of the study, are another technological factor that is quite effective in this transformation. Augmented reality applications, which you are encountering at a museum you want to visit, or in a city where you plan to go as a tourist, have become a favourite of the tourism sector and a part of our lives. This study consists of five basic parts. In the first part of the study, the problem, purpose, importance, assumptions and limitations of the study are explained under the heading of technical details of the research. In the second part, the concept of augmented reality was examined in detail, the short history of augmented reality systems, hardware and software features were examined, and in the third part, the impact of digitalization on tourism, the relationship between augmented reality and tourism, current augmented reality applications made for the tourism sector were supported and tried to be conveyed with visuals. The fourth part is about the Porto city tourist guide application developed with augmented reality technology, which is the subject of the research, and the survey study, while the fifth part, which is the last part of the study, contains the results of the research in accordance with the data obtained.
