The presence of scapular dyskinesia after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, the investigation of the relationship with cervical and lumbar core stabilization

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the presence of scapular dyskinesia in patients who had undergone arthroscopic rotator cuff repair surgery, and to investigate the relationship between scapular dyskinesia and cervical and lumbar core. In this study; based on our criteria, 31 patients who had undergone arthroscopic rotator cuff repair at least 12 weeks postoperatively were included in the study group and 31 participants with asymptomatic shoulders were included in the control group. Sociodemographic information and clinical history of individuals 'evaluation form'; core muscle strength 'Stabilizer Pressure Biofeedback Unit'; range of motion 'universal goniometer'; scapular muscular endurance 'Scapular Kassal Endurance Test'; scapular dyskinesia 'Observational Scapular Dyskinesia Test and Lateral Scapular Slip Test'; general quality of life 'Short Form-12' questionnaire; shoulder quality of life 'Rotator Cuff Diseases Quality of Life' questionnaire; waist disability status 'Waist Disability Index' questionnaire and neck disability conditions were evaluated by using the 'Neck Disability Index' questionnaire. Based upon the Lateral Scapular Slip Test and the Observational Scapular Dyskinesia Test, scapular dyskinesia in study group was found in 83.9% of the patients and in all patients respectively. It was found that scapular dyskinesia rate of the participants in study group was higher than the control group (p<0,05). İn all participants in both groups, the relationship between the inferior angle and cervical core was found in the first position (p<0,05). In the control group, the relationship between superior angle and lumbar core was found in the first position (p<0,05). A relationship between Observational Scapular Dyskinesia Test and lumbar core was found in control group and all participants (p<0,05). According to the results of our study, we claim that the evaluation of scapular dyskinesia after arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery, additional applications for scapular dyskinesia and core muscles to rehabilitation programs will be beneficial treatment of for shoulder diseases.
