The education history of Artvin (1923-2015)

Artvin has became a province in 1924. It had been continued one's existence as province of Çoruh between 1933-1956. In 1956, with a regulation, the name Çoruh was changed as Artvin. Before discussing about this thesis topic, we took into consideration of Artvin's history, administrative structure, geographical location, population and economic situation. In this respect, the attitude of education and training from Ottoman period to today education has been studied and the developments in the field of formal and non-formal education have been investigated in general terms. In this research, Artvin's educatinal training system and administrative structure from Ottoman period to present were analyzed. Comparisons were made with educational status across the country. In relation to this, statistical information was given under the headings of formal and common education in the province. In addition, the educational institutions which has historical identities and the activities of Artvin deputies about education of the province were included. Following a scientific framework Artvin's Educational History (1923-2015) was studied. In the published works about Artvin, education was partly referred and it was realised that these limited works didn't harmonize as cronologically. The subject was covered in chronological integrity with determination and examination of especially respect to first hand resources and examination of official publications and other source materials. Other difficulties in the thesis work were corrected by minimizing the resource scan and by making an effort to derect and dorain publications.
