Abstract (EN)

In this research, during the drilling process, the effect of different cutting parameters on cutting forces, torque, surface roughness were studied. In this experimantal study, austenitic type AISI 316L stainless steel material was drilled with using two different type of (uncoated and TiN/TiAl/TiCN coated solid carbide) HSS cutting tool. Four different cutting speeds (15 m/min, 20 m/min, 25 m/min and 30 m/min) and four different feed rates (0,15 mm/rev, 0,20 mm/rev, 0,25 mm/rev and 0,30 mm/rev) were used in experiments. The experiments were made by using fixed drill-rotating work piece method and a new cutting tool for each one. The cutting temperatures occurred during the drilling process are measured with the help of thermocouples inserted in the cooling channels of the coated and uncoated drills. Temperature and cutting force measurements was performed respectively by using K type thermocouple and Kistler 9257 B model dynamometer. When the results of the experiments are evaluated, it is observed that the cutting feed rate is decreased with the increasing amount of increasing feed rate. As a result of the application to the cutting tool coating, the temperatures in the cutting zone have been significantly reduced. The coating application has provided significant benefits in terms of in all the parameters observed.
