Abstract (EN)

Abiotic stresses are effects that significantly restrict productivity and quality in plant production. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the pre-application of acetone O-(4 chlorophenylsulfonyl) oxime (AO) compound on maize seedlings under salt stress. The following experimental setup was established: 18 hours distilled water control (K), 6 hours AO+then12 hours distilled water (AO), 6 hours distilled water+then 12 hours 100 mM NaCl (TS), and 6 hours AO+then 12 hours 100 mM NaCl (AO+TS). According to the results, while there was no difference between the control group and the AO treated group in terms of relative water content (RWC), it was observed that there was a significant decrease in TS and a significant increase in AO+TS compared to the control. In terms of chlorophyll content, while a decrease was observed in the TS group compared to AO and control, the amount of chlorophyll in the AO+TS group showed a significant increase compared to TS. While the carotenoid content was highest in TS, the lowest content was found in the AO+TS group. While a significant decrease was observed in H2O2 and MDA contents in the AO application compared to the control, an increase was observed in the TS group compared to the control. A significant decrease was observed in the AO+TS group compared to TS. Ascorbate peroxidase, catalase, guaiacol peroxidase, and superoxide dismutase enzymes were also observed to regulate their activities after AO treatment and significantly reduce the amount of H2O2 and MDA. While a significant decrease was determined in the proline content with the AO application compared to the control group, a decrease was observed in the AO+TS group compared to TS. It was observed that AO application caused serious changes in terms of phenolic substance content. As regards the findings, it can arrive that AO pretreatment can avoid the genesis of radicals that inhibit the general metabolic functioning of maize seedlings under salt stress.
