Structure and theme in Âşık Dertli Divani's poems on sufism

Kısas District of Şanlıurfa, which is one of the places where the minstrel tradition is intensely maintained in Turkey, has raised very important minstrels in this sense. One of the minstrels who was born in Kısas neighborhood and still continues the tradition of minstrelsy today is Dertli Divani, whose real name is Veli Aykut. Dertli Divani, an instrumental and spoken word poet, not only created new works with the tradition of playing and singing as a bard, but also contributed to Turkish Folk Music as a compiler and composer. Minstrel was awarded the "Living Human Treasure" award by UNESCO in the field of Minstrelsy and Chanting in 2010. Ashik Dertli Divani, who strives to fill the place of the decreasing number of minstrels in today's minstrel literature and to ensure that the minstrel tradition is not forgotten, carries out studies in various places and times, and participates in conferences and concerts. In this direction, he tried to convey the knowledge and experience of the minstrelsy tradition to large masses with the "Mekteb-i İrfan Conversations" he started in Turkey and abroad in 2012, and thanks to this community, he reached thousands of people. It is seen that Divani, who has played an active role in promoting and keeping Turkish Folk Music alive, still makes great efforts towards this goal. Ashik Dertli Divani, with its simple Turkish, sincere style and unique style, is a part of the XXI tradition of minstrelsy. He is one of the important representatives of the century. Dertli Divani, who has not been seriously studied before, is an autodidact minstrel who has gained an important position for himself within the minstrelsy tradition. In this study we have initiated, her works (7 albums in total and poems published in various magazines and articles) are presented both as a theme and the main messages she wants to give, and also by structural analysis. Minstrel's latest single work (Don't Forget My People) is also included in the thesis topic. Our thesis study is discussed in six chapters. In the first chapter, starting with the introduction of the field research, the village of Kısas, the birthplace of Dertli Divani, is introduced in various aspects. The second chapter is devoted to the life, art and works of the minstrel, and in this section, information about the minstrel's birth, childhood, education, youth and family is included. In the third chapter, what Alevism is is defined in line with the Alevi belief to which the minstrel adheres, and the Alevi belief tradition in Kısas neighborhood is emphasized. In the fourth chapter, Sufi themes in Dertli Divani's poems were identified and examined within the framework of esoteric-exoteric philosophy. In the fifth chapter, the language and style used by the minstrel in her poems were examined, and in the sixth and last chapter, the poet's poems were examined and analyzed in terms of their structure. The focus of this thesis, which is generally a text study, is to interpret the poet's poems from a philosophical perspective, to determine what his own poetic perspective is, to identify the Sufi themes and related sub-elements in the poems he produced using his inspiration and knowledge. At the end of the thesis, the text of the interview with him and the content of his albums are presented as an appendix.
