Lament-thematic epics of the minstrel literature

The minstrel litarature stardet by the end of the sixteenth century andincludes the period of the present day. It is known that the costom of wailing,in the Turkish litaratur, has appeared in different froms sınce pre-Islamicperiod. Laments fort he dead, thanks to the use of printing in our country,were printed and sold as one-paged lament-epics written by folk poets.Lament-epics which were written ?in order to make people moum? and alsohave the function of informıng have been the kınd of epics demanded mostlyby the public.It is possible, in our litarature, to divide the custom of epicism and epic-witing process in to three cultural periods: oral, written and electronic. Theoldest epic text perssed in the printing house bears the date of 1864. Themain topic of our thesis covers one-paged lament epics of the cultural periodbetween 1928 and 1974. Within this period were written the epics of verydifferent theme. We aimed at collecting those that were written to ?makepeople moum.? We reached 212 lament-epic texts created between 1928 and1974.Thanks to the stady, we encountered the fact that the culture of wailingsurvived through lament -epics written by folk poets and also by means oftechnologial developments in the written- cultere period. The fact that wailingwomen crying laments for Money were replaced by folk poets writing lamentswith ordering indicates that the custom has been living in a different from.Many researchers tried to classify the epics according to their theme. Wedid this research merely for lament-epics, through 212 epic texts that wecollected moreover, we studied the epic-laments as from and stlye. Thus, wetried to demonstrate how lament-epics were written and in what ways theyare correlated with the custom.
