Abstract (EN)
UĞURLU, Özgür. (Master-Apprentice Relationship in the Minstrel Tradition: The Example of Ardahan Province), Master's Thesis, Ardahan, 2025. Minstrels have been the voice of the people throughout history, reflecting societal events and individual emotions. The minstrel tradition is based on an apprenticeship system where artistic heritage is passed down from masters to apprentices. This art form supports both individual creativity and the continuity of oral culture. Thus, minstrels play a crucial role in preserving cultural memory across generations. This thesis examines the historical development, cultural significance, and musical characteristics of the minstrel tradition in Ardahan. The tradition has evolved over centuries, becoming an integral part of the region's cultural heritage. The study explores traditional elements such as pseudonym adoption, dream motifs, and the master-apprentice relationship in minstrel poetry. This research highlights the continuity and cultural impact of the minstrel tradition in Ardahan. Keywords: Minstrel Tradition, Master-Apprentice Relationship, Folk Music, Cultural Heritage, Modern Minstrelsy
