Abstract (EN)
Aim: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the use of endostatin, galectin-3, macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) as markers in the diagnosis of overactive bladder (OAB) and the role of these markers in angiogenic and inflammatory processes in OAB. Materials and Methods: Between February 2020 and November 2020, 30 people who applied to the Urology clinic of Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital with OAB complaints were included in the study as the patient group and 30 people without complaints and additional diseases as the control group. Plasma and urine endostatin, galectin-3, MIF and VEGF levels were measured with ELISA in the control and patient groups. Measurements were repeated after 4 weeks of medical therapy in the patient group. The analysis of the obtained data was made using the SPSS 21.0 program. Results: Plasma levels of endostatin, VEGF and urine levels of endostatin were significantly higher in the OAB group than in the control group (p<0,05). Conclusion: These results in our study show that angiogenic process may be important in OAB pathophysiology and plasma VEGF, plasma endostatin and urine endostatin levels can be used as markers in diagnosis and treatment processes of OAB syndrome.
