Abstract (EN)

ATOMIC(Rb+Rb, K+K, Rb+K) SCATTERING IN ULTRA-COLD GAS(PhD Thesis)M. Kemal ÖZTÜRKGAZI UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYJanuary 2007ABSTRACTIn this thesis, at ultracold temperatures, the scattering length which isspecifying the stable or unstable of Bose Einstein Condentation (BEC), andeffective range which describes a measure between bound and unbound cases ofatomic interaction, has been calculated using numeric and semiclassical methodfor an appropriate potential form is fitted to ab-initio values found in literaturefor Rb, K and Rb-K isotopes, and then the obtained values are compared withexperimental results. At low energies, it shows that the atomic phase shiftsdisplay linear behavior, and they are compared with theoretical values.Convergence of scattering length and effective range are tested using formulasof Szmykowski and Gao. Also zero-energy cross sections and spin-change crosssections are calculated for the scattering of these atoms.Science Code :202.1.008Key Words :Bose Einstein Condensation, Ultracold, Potassium Rubidium,Elastic scattering.Page Number :135Adviser :Prof. Dr. Süleyman Özçelik
