Astana international financial centre and its possible effects on country's economy

The possible effects of the Astana International Financial Center on the Kazakh economy were discussed in the study. Firstly, the concept of financial center was examined in detail and the main factors which affect the formation and development of a successful financial center were determined. In this context, London and New York global financial centers which have a long history and success, and Singapore and Dubai international financial centers which have achieved significant success and development in a short period of time were examined in perspective of contribution to their countries' economy. In the last stage, Kazakhstan's potential to be an international financial center was evaluated by SWOT analysis. Internal and external factors that could affect the success of the Astana International Financial Center were analyzed with SWOT analysis and evaluations were made about current and future situations with the results obtained. As a result of the analysis, Kazakhstan has some strengths and opportunities to become a successful international financial center, but there are also some weaknesses to be strengthened and threats to be avoided in achieving its goal.
