Abstract (EN)
The paper's main goal is to analyse the dipomatic relations of Turkey, as Ottoman Empire and later as a modern Republic, and Romania, and their collaboration through diplomatic and foreign policy major events: the Lausanne Treaty, the Balkan Pact and the Montreux Convention of Straits. Romania's relations with Turkey during the 3rd and 4th decade of the XXth century, as well as their role in the Balkans, made their history more detailed and clear. The inter-war Romanian diplomacy showed great respect and support towards Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's efforts to create a new and modern, independent, democratic state. A key aspect of this period is the new identity that the creators of the new Turkish state managed to impose. Between 1923-1940 we are witnesses of constant attempts to etablish peace and good international relations: the birth of the Turkish Republic, the establishment of new relations with other countries, the Lausanne Conference, establishing good relations with non-aggresive states, with USSR, the Balkan Agreement, and the Montreux Conference.
