Youth education and sport in the light of Atatürk`s views

Dr. Selami SÖNMEZ This study has aimedto understand and to know M. Kemal Atatürk by taking the aspects of his short but idealist, fast but exciting and meaningful life. We have also included M. K. Atatürk' s views about the youth, education and sport. This study claims that Atatürk cannot be learned from the pictures or quotations on the walls or meaningless slogans about him but by experiencingand practicing his character, idealism and belvef. In the first chapter we have tried to define the situation of the period before Atatürk' s birth which contains the Ottoman Empire and Islam World periods, and the compare these periods with the developments in the western world. In the second chapter, we have analysed Atatürk' s family, cildhood, education and career and the period of his freedom war, the foundation of the Turkish repuplic, the first porliomentary system, and his being the first president of Turkey. And under the light of these, we have tried to ezplain his principles reflecting his life philosophy. In the third chapter, we have tried to define the ideal profile of Turkish Sportman and youth triangle of education-Development-Modernisation. In the last chapter, with a brief evaluation of M. K. Atatürk' s views and quotations on the youth, education and sport we have tried to define the attitudes, behaviours and responsibilities which the Turkish youth should have and made our comments on ideal Turkish Youth.
