Abstract (EN)

Atenolol is often used in high doses due to its low bioavailability, which can lead to adverse effects for patients during the treatment process. The aim of this thesis is to develop innovative release systems to overcome these issues. For this purpose, ionotropic and emulsion gelation methods were used to prepare formulations with alginate (ALJ)-chitosan (KIT), alginate-gum arabic (GA), and light oils such as coconut oil (HCY) and mineral oil (MYAĞ). The study focused on factors such as encapsulation efficiency, controlled release, gastric retention, particle hardness, and shape. According to the results, the KIT-ALJ complex exhibited the highest encapsulation efficiency of 25.7% with 3% (w/v) ALJ, 0.5% (w/v) KIT, and 2% (w/v) CaCl2. In the gastric release studies conducted at pH 1.2 with 0.1 M HCl, a cumulative release of 100% was achieved with 3% (w/v) ALJ, 0.5% (w/v) KIT, and 0.4% (w/v) CaCl2. The GA-ALJ complex showed the highest
