Abstract (EN)

In this study, It is aimed to investigate and reveal the level of pesticides and sewage pollution to the aquatic ecosystem in Saricay River and Atikhisar Reservoir. For this purpose, physico-chemical water parameters (salinity, pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, saturated oxygen, and temperature) and water samples from clear reference stations and those from polluted areas were sampled between September 2005 and September 2006. Pesticide, COD, BOD, detergent, total phosphorus, total nitrogen, chlorophyll-a in water samples have been analyzed. GC analyses showed that pesticide pollution was not significant levels based on samples taken from Sarıçay River and Atikhisar Reservoir. Pesticide residues such as Alfa Endosulfane, Phosalone and 4,4?DDT determined in some stations. However, pesticide concentrations in low levels. Because of providing Atikhisar Reservoir the drinking water to Canakkale city, any pesticide residues should not be presented in water. Based on our results (1st, 2st, 3 st) stations in Atikhisar Reservoir has a good water quality, and the fifth station in Sarıcay as first quality but sixth, seventh and eight stations in Sarıçay as second and third class water quality. In this study, it has been showed that sewage pollution was exposed to Sarıçay and pesticide pollution to Atikhisar Reservoir due to agriculture and stockbreeding activities in this area. In this study, the levels of sewage and pesticide pollution in Sarıçay and Atikhisar Reservoir should be monitored in terms of human and aquatic ecosystem health at the following years.
