Abstract (EN)

ABE (Acetone, Butanol, and Ethanol) fermentation is a promising process for biofuel production. Batch and fed-batch experiments were conducted to produce solvent. At the first batch experiments, Clostridium acetobutylicum and Clostridum beijerinckii as organisms and watermelon peel, tea waste, peach waste, wheat waste, and rice husk were used as waste substrates. C. acetobutylicum tended to ethanol production while C. beijerinckii produced acetone as the major solvent. The highest butanol concentration (6.97 g/ L) was obtained with hydrolyzed peach waste at C. acetobutylicum where different types of waste produced nearly the same amount of butanol. The highest butanol yield (0.139 g butanol/ g substrate), volumetric butanol production rate (0.00116 g butanol/ L. h) and volumetric ABE production rate (0.00235 g ABE/ L. h) were obtained with C. acetobutylicum and peach waste. Fed-batch fermentation was subjected to hydrolyzed peach waste with C. beijerinckii at different dilution rates. Acetone was the major solvent produced where the highest acetone concentration (11.87 g/ L) and productivity (0.13 g/ L. h) was obtained with 0.0113 1/ h dilution rate. The highest acetone production yield (0.32 mol acetone/ mol glucose) was observed with 0.0056 1/ h dilution rate.
