Abstract (EN)
In this study, dissolution kinetics of zinc dust in acetic acid solutions in waste zinc alkali batteries were investigated. The effects of experimental parameters on the solubility of zinc powder in acetic acid solutions were examined and a mathematical model was proposed to represent the dissolution kinetics. The effects of acetic acid concentration, zinc dust content (solid / liquid ratio), reaction temperature, particle size and mixing speed on the dissolution process were investigated. Increase of acetic acid concentration, stirring speed and reaction temperature; It was observed that the dissolution rate of zinc increased with the decrease in solid / liquid ratio and particle size. Kinetic analysis was performed using the data obtained from dissolution experiments and it was determined that the dissolution rate was compatible with the second order kinetics. The activation energy for the dissolution process was found to be 36.1 kJ / mol and it was determined that the dissolution process was diffusion controlled. It was observed that the dissolution fraction values obtained by experimental method coincided with the theoretical dissolution fraction values
