Abstract (EN)

Energy requirement in the world is increasing with the increasing population and the development of technology. The fact that fossil fuels are in danger of depletion in the near future has also led researchers to find alternative energy sources. At this point, the idea that energy can be obtained from waste has started to play an important role in the management of municipal solid wastes. With the increasing population, the disposal of garbage has become a major problem, especially in big cities. Considering the environmental problems caused by urban wastes and the increasing demand for energy, the idea of generating energy while disposing of garbage is the most appropriate method for solving both of these problems. With this method, it is expected to prevent environmental pollution and contribute to the energy that the region needs. In this study, the first and second thermodynamics of the thermal power plant burning 4 MW of refuse derived fuel (RDF) in Malatya province. Plant has been analyzed according to the first and second laws. The analysis were carried out with the data collected directly from the power plant and the closest results were obtained. In the first part, energy losses, irreversibilities and first and second law efficiencies have been calculated for each power plant component. Mass, energy and exergy balances were established and energy and exergy analyzes of each unit and the whole system were performed. In line with all these data, charts and graphs were created and compared between the equipments. In the last part, the solution suggestions are given by specifying the equipment that can be corrected by linking the results. The main objective of this study is to complete the general exergy analyzes of the system and to realize the components in which the biggest losses occur in the system and to discuss how to improve these points. KEY WORDS: RDF, Renewable Energy, Exergy, Thermodynamics Analysis
