Abstract (EN)
The concept of gender is one of the areas formed by the normalization of male and female practices by society. It is necessary to understand not only women but also men and masculinities in making the social, political, economic and psychological processes that produce patriarchy understandable. In this context, after the second wave of feminism in the 1970s, studies on men and masculinities have started. Studies on social reception of masculinity beyond the biological aspect are seen in many areas from media to art. In novels, in which various aspects of society are reflected, masculinity is produced as patriarchal, and sometimes social taboos are tried to be destroyed by intertwining genders. In this study, the novels of Attila Ilhan, which make man and masculine thought visible or reproduced, are selected from the novels that will be examined with masculinity theory. The reflections of masculine thoughts and language in the period 1908-1960 in Ilhan's novel are analyzed in the context of the mentioned theories. The method chosen in the analysis is the Hermeneutic Approach, which is thought to provide a better understanding of the daily life practices of the novel characters and their causes. As a result, it is revealed in the novels of Attila Ilhan that masculinity is reproduced and sometimes the categories of men and women are intertwined. Key Words: gender, men, masculinity, novel, Attila Ilhan.
