Abstract (EN)

AbstractThe aim of this research is to portray the favorable and unfavorable aspects of foreign language education and cultural interactions experienced by exchange students who have attended graduate studies of European Union Education and Exchange Programs (EUEEP). Suggestions to how the effectiveness of EUEEP might be increased are also discussed.The scope of this research includes students who have attended either the Socrates Program, affiliate of EUEEP; or the Erasmus Program for graduate studies in several European Universities.The following issues are addressed;?Difficulties students have encountered abroad with their primary level of foreign language,?Students? reactions to the country?s cultural elements to which they are exposed to, during their study,?Favorable and unfavorable effects related to cultural elements such as, cultural interactions, cultural shock and cultural changes,?Determination of favorable and unfavorable changes regarding their behavior, perception and vision of the cultural elements in both their home country and the country they have studied in.The findings derived from these topics which are valid and useful, are gathered for the disposal of managers of EUEEP, as well as faculty members and students who plan to attend EUEEP.The sample group of this research consists of subjects selected from a list of Gazi University and Yıldız Technical University?s EU Office records of students who have attended the Erasmus Program.Due to the limited number of students who have attended EUEEP, in order to prevent the research to be incoherent, the sample group was set equivalent to the universal set.
