European Union polity as a solution to European Union identity matter

The European Union which has a unique frame is an association has been thought for not to have been experienced the disasters which were created by two world wars never again. European Union is effective both in national and in international area by showing a thundering development and has supervision authorization. While the European Union which has become a supranational power was consisting of six founder country in the beginning, membership number has increased together with broadening period has made a reconsideration necessary. In this occasion, EU polity can implement EU?s intuitional operation?s becoming more flexible and more transparent and increasing of member nation?s sense of belonging to the union. But validity of European Union is related to member nation?s self control. Objective of this study is to open a discussion for the connection between EU polity and EU identity. The experiences and knowledge which are gained in a historical period hold a place while reconfiguring European Union?s future. Accordingly, historical period of European Union?s identity configuring policies and things which exist in the period of Eu?s polity?s configuring period are examined. In the first part, what an identity means in general meaning, how it is formed, factor elements in formation period and where a joint identity forming need arises from have been trying to be explained. In the second part of the study, The EU policy which has an important place in configuring Eu identity has been covered. In the third part, EU?s political impact on Eu?s identity formation has been covered. In the fourth part, EU member country?s national identity?s generated problems while generating a common identity has been covered. After this evaluation, EU?s policy?s generating constitutional matters in the period of Turkey?s Eu membership period has been examined. The study has been ended by a general evaluation in the conclusion part.
