Relationship between European Union compliance and rural development in Turkey: Rural development analysis of Manisa region after 3 october 2005

After signing Ankara Agreement on 12 September 1963 and with the entry into force on 1 December 1964, the partnership relations between Turkey and the European Union has started. A new page has been opened following the decision taken on December 17, 2004 and with the start of Turkey's EU accession negotiations on 3 October 2005. In this context, it is decided to put forward a new plan with regard to rural development, taking into consideration the new trends and European Union integration process with an awareness of the requirements, priorities and current conditions of the country. Taking the necessary steps and concluding the studies in the rural development plan plays a very crutial role on the economic and social harmonization of EU process. In this study, the impact of Turkey's EU harmonization process to its rural development and in this context the impact to Manisa city are held and the changes that has been seen is studied. The study consists of 3 chapters. In the first chapter, the concept of development and rural development, rural development activities and rural development policies in Turkey are discussed. In the second chapter, rural development activities, rural development policy in the European Union and the European Union harmonization process in the context of rural development in Turkey was discussed. In the third part, rural development analysis of Manisa province was carried out in the context of integration process of European Union.
