Examination of physical education and sport teacher training curriculums in conformity process to European Union: Comparison of Belgium and Turkey

The aim of this research; to compare Physical Education and Teacher Training curriculums of Belgium one of the member country of European Union and Turkey and defining likeness and differences in this area.This research is cross country comparative education. Conversation, observation and documentation analyzes have been used in this research. Because of Belgium has not one type educational system Flemish Part has chosen and in that region University of Ghent, University of Leuven and University of Brussels (VUB) and Katho Zuid West Vlaanderen Hogeschool evaluated. On the other hand, Turkey has one standard curriculum so that one evaluated.Observations and conversation made by researcher and the universities and hogeschool visited by researcher. The curriculums of University of Ghent, Leuven and Brussels and Katho Zuid West Vlaanderen Hogeschool analyzed and likeness and differences are defined.There is a diffrences between primary school and higher secondary school educational systems. There isn?t entrance exam to university or hogeschool but only opening day (information meetings) and secondary education diploma is enough. Area Knowledge lessons are more nominal in the curriculum of University of Brussels, Leuven and Ghent and also Turkey but in Katho Zuid West Vlaanderen Professional Knowledge lessons are more nominal. University of Brussels, Leuven and Ghent offers different master programs for different job opportunities on the other hand in Katho Zuid West Vlaanderen (the same for all hogeschools) there is ?Tranining Unit 2? to make easier finding a job. Also, the hours of teaching practice lesson is less in Turkey when we compare with the other curriculums.
