Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACTIn this thesis, the current South Caucasian policy of European Union and thereflection of this policy to the relations between Turkey and EU have been studied.In the thesis, the developments with the restriction of time between the yearsof 1992 and 2006 have been taken into consideration. Additionaly the historicalorigins of the developments in relation to the subject has been also included.Generally in the thesis the global developments which are becoming importantin the South Caucasian Region in the process after 1990, the view of EU to SouthCaucasian Region as being the international area of struggle and the attempts onthis subject have been discussed. Furthermore, how this situation has affected andhow it will continue to affect the relations between EU and Turkey have been studiedin the thesis.The thesis has been started with an introduction part that included threestages so that it has been attempted to form a research background and then theinformation about South Caucasian Countries has been given the areas of theproblems which emphasize the region and the global struggle on Caucasia havebeen examined.In the second part, the European Neighborhood Policy has been explainedand then in Europen Union?s Neighborhood Policy, South Caucasia and the politic,economic and the security bases of South Caucasian Policy of EU with the struggleof global Caucasian and the place of Turkey in this process and the factor of SouthCaucasian in the relations between EU have been discussed.Caucasia is an important region in many ways and the developments afterCold War are promoting the importance of region. Because of the fact that the northof Caucasia is in Russian Federation, the basic struggle is happening over SouthCaucasia. EU and Turkey are two actors that are interested in the region as well. Thefollowing developments will affect South Caucasia as well as the relations betweenEU and Turkey. These relations are related to the attitude of EU on the factor ofArmenian and the sincere approaches to Turkey.
