Abstract (EN)

After the European Integration was completed the member states did not give up their former colonial lands. These regions, which are still considered the territory of the European Union, are called "Special Member State Territories". These regions are divided into 3 sub-categories: The Outermost Regions, Overseas Territories and Special Cases. While the Overseas territories are the transoceanic colonial territories of Denmark, the Netherlands, and France, The Outermost Territories are the colonial territories of Portugal, Spain, and France. Special Cases consist of regions where Spain, Finland, Denmark, Cyprus, Italy, Germany and Greece have had problems in integration or have faced some border problems. Among these regions, the only region bordering the Republic of Turkey is Dhekelia and Akrotiri regions, which belong to the United Kingdom. Although Dhekelia and Akrotiri region lost its status as a territory of the Union with the departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union and partially lost the concept of a Special Status Region, it is the only region whose continue its ties with the Union politically. This makes the region a unique example in the world in this sense. The United Kingdom has been using the region as both a political and commercial weapon for a long time. The future of the region is now in the hands of the Kingdom authorities whose left the Union and its position in the European Union - United Kingdom - Cyprus triangle in the future is a matter of curiosity. For the United Kingdom, which has acted as a pragmatist throughout history, the direction of these regions in the benefit-harm scale was examined and inferences were made in the following process.
