EUROPEAN UNION & TURKISH ENVIRONMENTAL LEGISLATION COMPARISION (M.Sc. Thesis) Murat TOKSOY GAZI UNIVERSITY INSTUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY August 2004 ABSTRACT For the right protection of the environment, it is decided by the European union to make decisions from one hand. So the protection mechanism will work much better. For the union countries it was difficult to compansate this, but at 1951 they became the European Union. So the important decisions about global subjects are being made from a centre, "The European Union". A request was made from Turkey by the European Union to get a membership. After 4 years continuing consultation "The Ankara pact" was signed up. There isn't accurate parallelism between environmental laws of European Union & the Turkish Environmental Regulations. But Turkish Environmental Regulations meet almost the standards of the environmental standards of European Union Science Code Key Words Page Number Adviser 912 Regulation, Environment, Europe Union, Turkey 177 Assoc.
