Issues related to the use of `?CE?? mark in European Union and the relationship of this concept with quality standards

`?CE?? Mark is the standardization implementation that European Union prepared in 1985 within the New Approach Policy and within the framework of New Approach Directives and developed for the aim of free movement of goods through the conformity of technical legislation.`?CE?? Mark doesn?t represent that the product is of good quality. It shows that the product meets minimum safety requirements through the directives determined within the EU.One of the biggest problems of `?CE?? Marking implementation in European Union and in Turkey is the lack of consciousness about `?CE?? Mark. The most important point that should be known by customers and businesses is `?CE?? Marking is a legal implementation. If consumers get harmed from a product that has a `?CE?? Mark on it, they should know that they are protected with wide ranged directives. On the other hand businesses should be aware if their products harm consumers, they will face serious enforcements.Companies must gain quality management system certifications to get `?CE?? Mark in some kind of product groups and one of the important problems that should be pointed out rises up from this issue. Some certification organizations again both in European Union and Turkey market, accomplish the certification activities just through the aim of benefit and this causes diminishing of quality creates the biggest barrier in reaching the objectives.To minimize the potential problems, wide ranged education programmes about `?CE?? Mark should be arranged for making consumers and companies conscious of the implemantation.In this study, `?CE?? Mark and Quality Management Systems are mentioned in detail and relationship between them is completely defined. This study will help the firms which in charge of foreign trade because all directives within New Approach are indicated in detail.
