The effect of divacing from the European Court of Human Rights decisions on human rights violations in Turkey

Although Turkey accepted the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in 1959, in recent years it has been reluctant to implement the ECtHR's judgments. This situation calls into question Turkey's commitment to the Europeanization process and the rule of law. This study, which examines Turkey's tendency not to implement ECtHR judgments from the perspective of Europeanization, reveals that in the early 2000s, Turkey's human rights legislation and institutions developed in line with European standards, but in recent years, Turkey has moved away from these standards. This study, which examines the violation decisions of the Constitutional Court and the annual reports published by the European Commission, emphasizes that Turkey has moved away from the ECtHR judgments, human rights violations have increased in Turkey, and therefore the country has moved away from the Europeanization process in the field of human rights.
