Abstract (EN)
Since the beginning of the history of humanity, religion has been an important dynamic in the society for the relationship between individuals and for the relationship between the state and individuals. Today religion guards this important function and the scope and limits of the freedom of religion continue to be discussed. For the ongoing debates that have found great echo in Turkey, article 9 of the European Convention on Human Rights (E.C.H.R.), which Turkey is a party to, and the jurisprudence of the organs of the Convention concerning this article constitutes the reference point. The aim of this work is to demonstrate the standards concerning the freedom of religion put forward by the E.C.H.R. and the organs of the Convention.
