Mirror Ottoman society in the 19th century through the eyes of European travelers: Woman

The main purpose of this research is to reveal the position of the woman who received her abundance from the nature of the Ottoman woman in the 19th century, based on the concept of "woman", which has been constantly wondered from history until today. The woman is the most important asset in the family whose society is affected. In the historical process, the woman who sometimes speaks to us from the front fronts and sometimes from the back fronts always makes her presence felt. For this reason, the issue of women should be viewed from multiple perspectives. For this reason, it is important to look at the issue from the perspective of different societies in order to know women in Turkish society. Especially Europe was curious about the Turkish society and tried to get to know the woman who is the mirror of the society. In these travel books, Turkish and Muslim women, who always keep their mystery, and women of the palace are frequently mentioned. It is not possible for a woman who was intimate in the Ottoman Empire to be fully recognized by male travelers. For this reason, the fact that the traveler narrates the woman he portrayed in his imagination caused it to not reflect the truth. It is known that the source of some misunderstandings and associations that still exist today is these travel books. In order to prevent these misunderstandings and attitudes, it is important to evaluate travel books objectively. Especially in this study, in the 19th century, when the Ottoman society felt the change; European travelers show the Turkish woman's clothes, traditions and customs, family relations, participation in social life and so on. It was aimed to analyze his observations on many subjects by examining them from the view of both female and male travelers and describing their comparisons with their own cultures. In the study, the literature was examined in detail, and descriptive analysis and content analysis were performed using qualitative data analysis method.
