Abstract (EN)
The concept of sociocultural adaptation is in relation to some variables that effect the immigration process to reflect a general image of the individual's life. In this study, it is aimed to examine the demographic features of the Turkey's immigrants in Austria and the dimensions of identity and discrimination in terms of sociocultural adaptation variables. The participants of the research, who are living in Austria, randomly selected and volunteered, are 306 Turkey's immigrants. The survey method including the previously implemented scales was used in the collection of research data. A three-step multiple comparison analysis technique was applied to reveal the relationship between sociocultural adaptation variable of the participants and various demographic variables - applied scales. As a result, the level of perceived discrimination of participants increases there is more difficulty of sociocultural adaptation. It was observed that the difficulty of sociocultural adaptation was less experienced. Lesser sociocultural adaptation difficulties have been observed in those with a good level of German language skills, the educational status of high school and above, age group 35 and below, single immigrants. Also, it seems to have a very significant difference between economic-cultural reasons and the migration of political reasons at the level of identity perception and socio-cultural harmony. This research is important for applying to immigrants living in Austria, which has not undergone too much analysis.
